For its fifth birthday, the Vexin Festival invites the greatest artists to villages and churches of the Vexin region.
Five years, that sounds young, but the Festival is well implemented in the area and in the heart of music lovers, for whom it has become spring’s musical favourite haunt.
Regular friends of the festival : Augustin Dumay, Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Alexandre Tharaud will visit us again this year, with their enthusiasm and passion for music and for our great pleasure.
They have left their mark on the 20th century : « Homage to Sviatoslav Richter ».
For the 10th anniversary of Sviatoslav Richter’s death, the violist Yuri Bashmet will offer a program he performed several times with this immense pianist.
In a « Homage to Maria Callas », we will hear some of the most beautiful opera tunes that the diva sang and recorded.
And if Mozart or Beethoven were living, what would they compose ?
A cycle will be matched to musical creation with a french composer in residence, Suzanne Giraud, whose sound and creative world will be discovered during four concerts. One of the greatest moment will certainly be the world premiere of « Stereo Space », a concerto for piano and orchestra.
A festival in the Festival : A small piano festival will take place during the Vexin Festival. Five piano maestros with quite different, sometimes even opposite personnalities, will show each of them in recitals which will offer us intense emotion.
From piano recital to symphonic orchestra, without forgetting intermediate groups like TM+ with its 22 musicians, or a 100-singer-choir to pay homage to Maria Callas, the concerts will take place in the simplicity and warmth that the audience of Vexin Festival know well.
